Notes: 

Fava beans are a classic cover crop as they will overwinter easily without protection in the Pacific Northwest.  As a legume they fix nitrogen into the soil and if tilled in after harvest will add additional nitrogen to your edible garden.  By planting in Spring and Fall, two crops per year can be had.
